Schedule of Events:

7:00pm - 8:00pm | Case Study - Frontline, John MacGibbon
Since 1983, Frontline has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," Frontline's stature over 20 seasons is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries.

John MacGibbon, the promotions editor at Frontline, discussed the workflow that went into creating a 90-second promo for the first three shows of the season, including converting the promo to HD. He also discussed some of the techniques he uses in creating animated titles.

8:00pm - 9:00pm | Final Effects Complete AVX
Anne Renehan is the Director of Marketing and Communications at Boris FX, where she oversees the Authorized Training program. She has also produced several training DVDs. Before joining Boris, Anne was a long-time editor for WGBH. Her credits include such series as Antiques Roadshow, ZOOM, Championship Ballroom Dancing and Victory Garden, as well as several documentaries.

At the October BAVUG meeting, Anne showed the new version of Final Effects Complete AVX. Final Effects Complete AVX (FEC AVX) is a collection of effects plug-ins that work in the native Avid interface. Originally designed for Adobe® After Effects®, this new version will run on Avid® systems using the AVX 1.0 architecture. Ranging from graceful blurs and edges to radical warps and particle generators, FEC AVX dramatically augments your creative arsenal without forcing you to learn an entirely new application..
