7:00 - 9:00pm | Steve Audette - Editing NOVA
Steve Audette has been a documentary editor for nearly 20 years. He is currently working as Senior Editor on the PBS Series NOVA. His first program cut for the series is about to be awarded a major science journalism award (details to come). But this is not Steve's first. His work has contributed to many Emmy Award-winning documentaries, as well as Peabody and DuPont Columbia Award-winning programs.

In 2008 Steve was nominated for an Eddie Award from American Cinema Editors (ACE), in the category of Best Documentary Editor for his work on FRONTLINE: BUSH'S WAR; which just won the news and documentary emmy this last fall. In addition, Steve works as a relief editor, under the supervision of NOVA executive producer, Paula Apsell, fine-cutting documentaries produced by other teams to prepare them for broadcast.

Steve will talk about the creative and practical process of editing NOVA, and how he works with a producer to develop a story arc and how he translates the producers' ideas into a fully realized story. He'll cover the use of different types of visual systems and sound design to augment story telling. Steve will also share some of his editing techniques, including some discussion of the use of graphics, music, and little known master level features of the Avid.
